Anthropological reports of hunter-gatherer groups who live an 'immediate return' way of life – meaning that they consume their food almost straight away, without storing surpluses – have typically shown them to be extremely egalitarian and democratic. In the words of the anthropologist Bruce Knauft, such groups are characterised by 'extreme political and sexual egalitarianism' (1991, p.391). They have well developed processes of maintaining social harmony, including measures to ensure that unsuitable individuals do not attain power. Any person who shows signs of a desire for power and wealth is usually barred from consideration as a leader. In the words of the anthropologist Christopher Boehm (1999), contemporary hunter-gatherer groups 'apply techniques of social control in suppressing both dominant leadership and undue competitiveness' (p.64).
However, model fit indices of the 2-factor model were close to the threshold limit value (Mouguiama-Daouda et al., 2022). The Philippine validation study by Simon et al. (2022) showed that the 2-factor model with four correlated errors had a good fit for the data, whereas the 2-factor one without correlated errors showed an inadequate fit in the sample of young Filipinos. Thus, these validation studies conducted in different cultures have revealed contradictory results in the CAS factor structure. Previous research on short track athletes has focused on the athletes’ physical preparation [3,4] and their physical skills [5].

However, we do not exclude that future validation studies in different cultures will confirm the 3-factor solution. Exploratory factor analysis studies of the CAS are required to examine its factor structure in different cultures. Experiencing climate change can have different effects on psychological functioning in different groups (Clayton, 2020).

We welcome manuscripts representing perspectives in psychology, linguistics, sociology, philosophy, and computer science, provided they align with the journal's central focus. We believe that through these multiple perspectives, we can contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the role that language and communication processes play in our world. We welcome original empirical studies (as full-length articles or short reports), replication studies, and reports of null findings. We are also keen to report on methodological advancements in the fields of language and communication research, theoretical papers, and literature reviews. And more than anyone else, psychologists and other mental professionals have a moral duty to help. Such problems faced by pupils of Polish Supplementary Schools affect their education, progress, self-acceptance and socialisation.
Why have I been blocked?
The questionnaire has 56 items, eight for each of the seven dimensions it measures (four of temperament and three of character). The four dimensions of temperament are novelty seeking (NS), harm avoidance (HA), reward dependence (RD) and persistence (P). The three dimensions of character are self-directedness (SD), cooperativeness (C) and self-transcendence (ST). The subjects respond on a 5-point Likert scale ranging from 1 (definitively false) to 5 (definitively true). Soon other people with psychopathic traits emerge and attach themselves to the pathocracy, sensing the opportunity to gain power and influence.
The CERQ statements (e.g., I keep thinking about how terrible it is what I have experienced) are evaluated using a 5-point Likert scale from 1 [(almost) never] to 5 [(almost) always]. As he put it, pathocracy is a system of government 'wherein a small pathological minority takes control over a society of normal people'. Since he was living under a 'pathocratic' regime himself, Lobaczewski took great risks studying this topic. He was arrested and tortured by the Polish authorities, and unable to publish his life's work, the book Political Ponerology, until he escaped to the United States during the 1980s. We publish articles on various aspects of psychological studies on language and communication processes in both children and adults. The Environmental Identity Scale-Revised (EID-R) version by Clayton et al. (2021) is a 14-item questionnaire developed for measuring the power of people's nature connectedness on both cognitive and emotional levels.
The denial belief scale is a set of five separate statements developed by McCright and Dunlap (2011) to measure attitudes toward climate change denial. These statements (e.g., Recent temperature increases are not primarily due to human activities) were modified and combined into a one-factor scale. All modifications of the original version (modifications included altering “global warming” to “climate change”) were made with the permission of McCright and Dunlap (2011).
These encourage competition and selfishness, and devalue compassion and empathy, enabling people with ruthless amoral traits to thrive, and facilitating the development and expression of such traits. We clearly need to develop more egalitarian and responsible values and institutional structures so that such traits become less socially acceptable and desirable. It is widely accepted that there are early life predictors of psychopathic traits, such as callous-unemotional traits, a lack of empathy and guilt, and shallow or deficient emotions (Salekin, 2006; Frick, 2009; Glenn, 2019). In the light of this, early teachers and childhood friends or relatives of political candidates could be interviewed to examine evidence for these traits.
